SuSy Internship Jana Jevtovic at NDA Slovenia
“In assisting with the administrative and production work of NDA for a period of three months, I had the very welcome opportunity to improve on my previous experience, as well as to gain a significantly deeper insight into the inner workings of the organization of which I have been a member for a number of years. I assisted mostly with the more detailed administrative work, helping the organization to maintain order within the daily cadence of supporting multiple projects in their development, as well as communication within NDA, and with our partners and others. Additionally, I took part in collecting and preparing materials of projects that have not been added to the NDA webpage, assisted in seeing the project through to completion, and aided in establishing and organizing a digital archive of our organization.
Despite the challenges brought by the pandemic situation, this period was for me invaluable in sharpening administrative skills, and through practical work it afforded me a clearer understanding of the local and European ecosystems within which we work and our organization functions. I very much see this knowledge as transferable – something that is particularly important for an organization such as NDA - and just as invaluable for my own artistic practice.« (Jana Jevtović, Susy)
Jana Jevtović is a choreographer, dancer, and performer whose works include performances, dances, texts, and videos, and are often made through collaborative processes and structures with others. Rather than thematic frameworks, what primarily interests her are the situations and mechanisms which take place in and around the event of performance itself.
She has been active around Europe, the U.S., and Canada, and has collaborated with artists such as Mårten Spångberg (Geo-Trauma Dance; The Nature Redux – The Great Outdoors), Dragana Alfirević (Episode 3: long distance creationship; Episode 93: the next piece), Dana Michel (house of work; the greater the weight), Amanda Piña and Daniel Zimmermann (Endangered Human Movements Vol. 1 – Four remarks on the history of dance), among others.
A collaboration initiated together with Céline Larrère (aka Celina Larrerović) in 2011 builds on a body of episodic performances and performative practices under the title Chorégraphie, BABY!. Jana graduated from Concordia University (Montreal) in 2006.
She was a recipient of the DanceWeb scholarship in 2011 and is a member of NDA Slovenia since 2014.
