Eva-Maria Schaller & Studio Dan – FEMENINE
Eva Maria Schaller / Sudio Dan develops the choreographic outdoor project "FEMENINE" in the period of June 01, 2022 to July 23, 2022 and receives technical support from danceWEB / the LLB project for this.
The result of project was presented on July 25, 2022, 17:00 + July 26, 2022, 17:00 at Goethehof in Kaisermühlen, 1220, Vienna, in the frame of ImPulsTanz – Vienna International Dance Festival.
FEMENINE
This is the way to play and dance a community: six dancers, the Viennese music ensemble Studio Dan and the audience combine to form a virtuoso association of sound and movement – in the open air to the organic minimal music piece Femenine (1974) by African-American homosexual composer Julius Eastman. Eastman’s experiments with new performance formats are at the heart of this improvisational work that expands over time to unfold its full range, transforming spatiality itself into performative material. This in turn creates a new space with which to interact.
