Wild Card residency for Tamara Curic, Larisa Navojec and Aleksandra Janeva Imfeld
Selected by the network partner Tala Dance Centre in Zagreb, Ultima Vez invited the artists Tamara Curić, Larisa Navojec and Aleksandra Janeva Imfeld to a residency at the Ultima Vez studios in Brussels from August 29 to September 4, 2015. The artists used the residency to develop their artistic work and LLB Dance Works! coproduction “Displaced” that premiered on October 15, 2015 in Zagreb.
The residency in Ultima Vez was for the project “Displaced” one of the most fruitful moments.
Tamara and Larisa initiated the whole project as they found the staff of Ultima Vez in administrative meetings only and they had a huge need to dance together after many years knowing each other. They used to dance a lot together in the start of their career and nowadays collaborate a lot, but mostly providing space for others to work in very different formats. A quote from their report:
“During our stay in Brussels everyone was focused on the research we did and we could dive into it with full capacity. To meet other artists in the kitchen or in the hallways was also an opportunity to open up new projects. Ultima Vez is a wonderful host. The invitation to Wim's movie premiere was another boost for our work.
It is very inspiring and motivating to be "displaced" from our usual routine and have the opportunity and time to really study what we were interested in.
We would continue our talks at home and watch videos and come back and work further. It was a chance to get physical and challenge our own habits and usual ways of moving. We made a big step towards each other as a group and opened up vocabulary by implying "the dots" which were a focus in our work.”
