teachback Vienna 2017

Having created a place for research and knowledge production in the field of how to teach art for the past eight years now, dance artists Jennifer Lacey and Alice Chauchat joined forces with film artist Marta Popivoda for this last edition of teachback and produce “teachback – the movie”: a fiction film on art education in the frame of ImPulsTanz – Vienna International Dance Festival. Their proposal was to make a film from the vestiges of a research project that has been in operation now for 8 years. So much has been generated by this project that they are loathe to amputate it's power by closing it down, but the some kind of retrospective look is necessary to continue. TTT/Teachback has always been clear that it is an art project, not a project about art. This film project is clearly not a summery of the work done but it's continuation. They want to create something that continues to communicate the particular atmosphere of work and collaboration that formed around dancers asking the question of "how do artists teach art?."

Teachback 2017 took place from 24 July to 04 August 2018 and additionally to the film respectively the core crew consisting of Jennifer Lacey, Alice Chauchat, Ivan Markovic, Jakov Munizaba and Marta Popivoda, it included guest appearances from the artists Adriano Wilfert Jensen, Valentina Desideri,  Alix Eynaudi, Christine Gaigg, Keith Hennessy, Anne Juren, Jennifer Lacey, Sri Louise and Frans Poelstra.
