PREMIERE Co-production "Urgent Need To Breathe" by Ziggurat Project

"The Urgent Need to Breathe" coproduction by Ziggurat Project was supported by Workshop Foundation. The interdisciplinary performance was created in international coproduction: 1 Hungarian choreographer, 3 dancer, 1 Slovakian performer, 1 Czech sound designer-composer, 1 Czech visual and interactive designer took part in the project. The premiere was held at Trafó House of Contemporary Arts in 21th of May 2018. The production choreographed by Flóra Eszter Sarlós is inspired by free diving and throught this sport approaches to the connections between movement, body and breathing, reflects on the phenomenon of weightless, flowing, adrenalin and addiction. The sensorial experience is supported by interactive technology as using LED lights reacting on light sensors, wearable electronics and interactive sound and light design. The premiered performance at Trafó House is a full piece in itself, however the artists are planning to continue and develope the artistic work, they would like to create it as a site-specific performance in a swimming pool. The Workshop Foundation in the framework of DanceWorks! programme gave supportation for further research and developement of the project between 28th of May and 30th of June 2018.
