PREMIERE Co-production "Panda Express" by Oneka von Schrader

A tea ceremony that explores and opens up the senses of space and spectator. Each infusion deepens the spatial and experiential sensorium a little more. Objects are carefully facilitated onto the stage. Each of them is assigned its own and carefully chosen position in the space and in the duration of the ceremony. Bach’s Brandenburg Concerts enters the space as equally as the speakers that amplify it. Music, objects, and performers are egalitarian agents in this practice, whilst sharing and supporting each other’s presence.

Panda Express addresses the theatrical situation of getting together, sitting inside a dark space. A space that holds both a promise and a threat, as you can never know what could come from behind or underneath. It challenges an understanding of theatre as a place for seeing and turns the teatron into a sensorium.

Panda Express was first conceived as a graduation piece of the School for New Dance Development and is developed further over the course of the last months.
