PIIGS is… An acronym used by international bond analysts, academics, and the economic press to refer to the troubled European economies of Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Greece, and Spain during the Sovereign Debt Crisis.
PIIGS is… A motley crew of European underdogs. Five cheerleaders assemble as a force to cheer for a landscape in crisis. Widespread unemployment, austerity measures and increased immigration fears have made it imperative for the PIIGS to speak.
