Nebojša Vilić, PhD (1962, Veles, Republic of Macedonia); art historian; full professor at University 'SS Cyril and Methodius' in Skopje, Republic of Macedonia. [nvilic(at)ukim.edu.mk]

Slavcho Dimitrov (born in 1984) graduated at the Department for General and Comparative Literature at the Faculty of Philology at the Ss.Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje. He got his first Master’s degree in Gender Studies and Philosophy at the Evro-Balkan Institute, and his second Master’s degree from the Department of Multidisciplinary gender studies at the Cambridge University. He has worked as a teaching assistant at the postgraduate gender and cultural studies at the Evro-Balkan University, and at the undergraduate and postgraduate studies at the Faculty for media and communications – SINGIDUNUM, Belgrade. In the past few years, he has coordinated a large number of academic projects and summer schools, as well as projects in the domain of human rights and marginalized communities, with special focus on queer activism. He is the founder of the international Summer School for Sexualities, Cultures and Politics. He is one of the founders of the Research Center for Cultures, Politics and Identities (IPAK.Center) in Belgrade. He has been working at the Coalition since its beginnings, as a member, coordinator and executive director. His activist interest is directed towards the politics of queerness (queer politics), sexual and gender citizenship and equality, rights of marginalized communities and their interweaving with questions concerning social justice.

12 – 2 p.m. “Cultural policies after the crisis“, lecture by Robert Alagjiovski and discussion @ Kino Kultura

Based on definitions and theoretical approaches from authors like Matarasso, Bianchini, Landry, etc. this presentation would focus on some general dilemma and problems in the goals and understanding of the cultural policies.

It will more specifically describe and analyze the worrying trends in cultural policies across Europe after the Financial crisis of 2008 and the growing trends of neoliberalism, precarity, xenophobia and migration. It would refer on the specific approach on culture of the hybrid regimes in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. It would describe the situation in the cultural field in Macedonia, and the experience of the author in developing post-crisis cultural policy of decontamination, democratization and normalization.

Robert Alagjozovski (1973)

Skopje based free lance writer, researcher, cultural manager, art and culture critic.

M.A. in Comparative literature from Skopje University. PHD student at Skopje Faculty of economy on Local development through culture. Author of four books and dozen of studies from Philology, Film and Cultural Policy. Former President of the Brussels’ based Oracle network of European cultural managers and trainer at the Marcel Hicter’s European Diploma in Cultural Project Management. Member of Independent writers of Macedonia and of the editorial board of Sarajevo notebooks. He has been involved in many projects on cultural decentralization, interculturalism, regional or international cooperation. He has translated several important books from English and Serbo-Croatian into Macedonian.
