Co-production Sidney Leoni "Hertz"
Hertz, the new performance-concert by choreographer Sidney Leoni, is subject to obscurity, high sound pressure levels, vibrations and fog. Created togetherwith sound artist Frédéric Alstadt, lighting designer Jan Fedinger, musicians Kjetil Brandsdal, Morten J. Olsen, Jonathan Saldanha and performers Martin Lervik and Stina Nyberg, Hertz destabilizes the convention of“watching” performances bychallenging our accustomed use of our senses. While our eyes are deprived of the last bit of visible light in the theater, sounds are layered upon each other with a density and intensity that drastically delays (re)cognition, orientation and understanding.
Hertz is an highly atmospheric choreography of sound, light, objects and human bodiesin which any physical manifestations are temporary and unforeseeable.

Bio
With his two previous choreographic works: Undertone (2010) and War of Fictions (2011), Sidney Leoni draws his attention on notions of sensation, affect and participatory relation with an audience and questions the relationships between: fiction and reality, the animate and the inanimate, the material and the immaterial, the agency of things and the agency of bodies. In Undertone different kinds of stimuli are orchestrated such as: surroundsoundscapes, smells, temperature fluctuations and analogue encounters between performers and audience, in order to immerse all bodies inside a same fictional environment. With War of Fictions, created together with choreographer/ performer Luís Miguel Félix, his interest is turned into defining strategies to engage moving bodies as main agent to produce fiction.
As performer, Sidney is taking part in the work of Mette Ingvartsen: Giant City (2009) and The Artificial Nature Project (2012) and Andros Zins-Browne: The Host (2010) and Welcome to the Jungle (2012) as artistic assistant.
Since 2008, Sidney is a member of the Stockholm based autonomous organization: mychoreography, lead by Mårten Spångberg. In 2008/09, Sidney took part of the Master program Research In Choreography at the University College of Dance in Stockholm and in 2002/06 as part of the BA and Master program Research in Dance at the University Sophia-Antipolis in Nice. Before that, Sidney was trained as a ballet dancer at the Opéra de Toulon in France.
