"[8:tension] - Young Choreographers' Series 2016"

Buoyant attention. Dancing in resistance to nostalgia and regret. Monumental and delicate works. Words, text and communication as a game and a strange poetics of bodies and objects. A new language of sincerity on stage. The unsettling and dissolving of boundaries. Taking time amidst the media noise to contemplate who you want to be – for yourself and in relation to others. A possibility of a new dawn does exist, even in difficult times, and it exists in the theatre (as well). 

The 2016 [8:tension] Young Choreographers’ Series presents powerful statements by 13 dance professionals from all over the world. Alexander Gottfarb, Bojan Djordjev and Jule Flierl, for example, go beyond the spatial and temporal boundaries of the theatre, while Aline Landreau transforms both the stage space and her body using sound as well as her voice in her performance. Valentina de Piante sends her three dancers on a trip – from inner motions of the body to rousing and refreshing states of emergency, brilliant soundtrack included. Bryana Fritz and Christoffer Schieche develop a playful universe of mysterious shapes and forms with the aid of poetry, avoiding the use of set phrases.
